Materials for environmental applicaitons

With collaborators at SINTEF, we developed membranes that more efficiently separate CO₂ from mixed gas streams than any previously reported value, having permeabilities and selectivities well above Robeson's upper bound.

Copolymers and polymer blends

In this paper, we investigated the molecular dynamics of isotactic polypropylene with varying concentrations of thermoplastic starch for sustainable polymer blends.

My experience and skills

With over a decade of hands-on R&D experience and four years leading cross-functional innovation projects, I specialize in turning bold ideas into solutions. I thrive in early-stage development, moving concepts rapidly from 0 to 1 by defining research objectives, building prototypes, and pushing them out of the lab and into application. With years of working on bionspired and biomimetic solutions, I bring creativity and novel perspective to all of my projects.

My background spans ideation, fabrication, and advanced materials characterization, giving me a deep understanding of the structure-process-properties of the material that informs the full development lifecycle. Whether I’m creating a new material from scratch or scaling a technology toward production, I bring a cradle-to-cradle perspective grounded in both scientific rigor and practical execution.

  • Nature is the ultimate designer, with millennia of natural selection and optimization behind some of the most ingenious technologies and survival mechanisms. Biomimicry is a foundational skill I’ve developed as a scientist and applied to research projects across various domains, from semiconductors to polymers.

  • I’ve always been drawn to creating interesting materials and equipment that helps me do that. I’ve designed and assembled tools for electrospinning nonwovens, built a custom ALD chamber, and developed lithographic workflows using sequential vapor infiltration (SVI) to pattern block copolymers on unconventional substrates. My experience spans polymer post-processing, surface grafting, and chemical modification to fine-tune performance and functionality, like for gas permeability or surface effects like superhydrophobicity. I take pride in developing repeatable, scalable processes that bridge discovery with real-world application.

  • In order to thoroughly understand the different materials I’ve worked with and their properties, I’ve performed and mastered various characterization methods including electron microscopy (SEM, TEM, EELS, EBSD, and EDS), XPS, XRD, WAXS, Nano-CT, TGA, DSC, and tensile/compression texting.
